OVERNIGHT & WEEKEND CAMP

EXPLORE MEDIA ARTS and ENGINEERING, MAKE A SHORT FILM AT THE
FILM & ANIMATION ACADEMY

Ithaca Media Arts Summer Camp is where kids enjoy making media and having fun!  One-week sleep away camp program blends together an introduction to a variety of animation and media making techniques in the mornings, or Lego Robotics and Game Making. Next we have lunch. (We cater to all dietary restrictions, please let us know in advance!)

In the afternoons campers focus on a short film production project or computer Game Making and Building (using Roblox and Minecraft platforms), or 3-D Printing and computer aided design (CAD) and creation of actual 3-D objects such as small toys and figures, or Web Site Building (using WordPress). (Other afternoon options vary by schedule.) There’s also some time to play outdoors (as weather permits) or play games inside

(For more detailed  info on the daytime camp programs included during the day, see Full Day Programs. Overnight campers may choose from any of these. Campers may decide on arrival.)

We then go swimming, visit an awe-inspiring waterfall, see an historic film site, take pictures at Cornell University and enjoy Cornell Dairy Barn ice cream, or visit Cayuga Lake in the late afternoons. Then we return to our separate boys’ and girls’ dormitories for showers, and have dinner. Evening activities include film screenings and discussions, and visiting  world-famous Purity Ice Cream for dessert.

FOOD:

We provide a delicious and healthy breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, along with snacks and desserts. We offer Organic Vegetarian and Kosher food options, and maintain a Vegetarian-Kosher Kitchen in one of our dorms. We try to accommodate camper tastes and preferences, and conduct a survey at the start of each week to see who likes what, and plan meals accordingly. Please alert us to any special needs or allergies prior to the beginning of camp. Each dorm room has a refrigerator and freezer where campers may keep their own food if they should choose to bring (not necessary at all!), however we request that in the case of sweets and treats campers bring enough to share with a few other children. YOU DO NOT NEED TO PACK ANY FOOD, ALL MEALS AND SNACKS ARE INCLUDED.

ACCOMMODATIONS:

Campers sleep in our air-conditioned (and heated) dormitory rooms, located on the second floor of our renovated barn building, featuring mountain views and separate accommodations and bathrooms for boys and girls, and staffed by skilled adult camp counselors who will be in our dorm rooms during all evening and nighttime hours. We provide freshly washed bed sheets and towels for each camper.
